7-minute workout app: a new mum's best friend

I stumbled across THE BEST 7-minute workout app the other day and purchased it immediately. I had a baby 8 months ago and as any new mum knows, you get about minus five hours a day for gym workouts or yoga classes. Make that minus eight if you have other kids and/or are working.

It's easy enough to find time for cardio — just pushing the baby up a few hills in the pram or in a front pack will do the trick.

But finding time for regular strength workouts to tone up and get some core strength back in the old jelly belly?

Forget about it.

So the 7-minute workout is my new best friend. You can do it virtually anywhere and as the name would suggest, it only takes 7 minutes! For a time-poor new mum, it's absolute gold. In fact, it's gold for any time-poor person.

It gives you 12 exercises, each performed for 30 seconds with 10-second rest intervals. The workout uses only your body weight for resistance. The only equipment you need is a chair and a wall. It works all the major muscles groups, builds strength, burns fat and raises the metabolism. And did I mention it only takes  7 MINUTES?

Best of all, its backed by science.

An article published in 2013 in the American College of Sports Medicine's Health & Fitness Journal explained how this high-intensity circuit training is equivalent to an hour at the gym. True story!

Why the 7-minute workout challenge is the best app ever!

The $2.49 you will spend on this app is worth its weight in gold.

I was sceptical at first, but after my first 7-minute workout I was huffing and puffing, red in the face and my muscles were aching like crazy the next day. Granted, I was pretty unfit when I started. But after a few weeks of doing it almost every day, I'm already feeling stronger and seeing the scales drop without changing my diet at all.

7-minute workout

This app encourages you to do double or triple shots (2 or 3 workouts in a row) as your fitness builds and rewards you for achievements like working out every day for two weeks. It sends a reminder to your phone each day so you never have that lame excuse: I forgot.

There are various 7-minute workout apps out there, but the 7-minute workout challenge is the best in my opinion. You can choose to have a male or female voice guide you through the exercises, and there are videos of a man and woman performing each exercise.

The app is so easy to use, with such clear instructions, that it makes doing your daily workout SO achievable. I've even done it in my PJs after the baby is asleep when I couldn't be bothered putting my workout gear on.

We have no affiliation with the designers of this app. We simply think it's a great for new mums (and anyone) who wants to look and feel great without spending a tonne of time or money.

We'd love to hear what our blog readers think if any of you do try it.
ENJOY!

Easy homemade chicken soup for body and soul

Soup is what makes winter bearable for me. I’m a summer person and I could easily live on a tropical island sipping cocktails for the rest of my life and never see another winter. I used to find winter depressing until I decided to embrace the good things about it: the cosy warmth and glow of...
