Here’s why Australian native extracts are so effective for skin care

As you may have read in this blog post, we’ve reformulated our organic skincare products and added substantial quantities of Australian native plant extracts.

We didn’t scour the globe for the world’s most potent natural skincare ingredients: we discovered them right here on our doorstep.

We now use Australian native extracts taken from traditional plant species sourced all over Australia.

The extracts are obtained via a cellular extraction process that ensures the bioavailability, potency and stable phyto-activity of the plant’s active constituents.

Why Australian native extracts?

Southern Cross University in northern NSW has conducted extensive research and testing of Australian native extracts using chromatography  — a lab technique used to separate the chemical components of a substance.  These studies have exceeded the expectations of researchers testing the potency of Australian native extracts.

They found incredible quantities of Vitamin C, E and other antioxidants. When applied to the skin in skincare products these nutrients:

How nature has fortified Australian native plants

We all know how harsh the Australian sun is. All you need to do is look at our skin cancer stats — sadly, the highest in the world.

Australian native plants have evolved to withstand constant exposure to harsh sunlight. They contain an efficient system to protect themselves from the oxidative stress caused by sun-induced free radicals.

It is thought that the extreme nature of Australia’s climate and the conditions these plants are able to survive in, has produced the extraordinary potency found in the concentrated extractions.

We use kakadu plum (Terminalia ferdinandiana) in almost all our new formulations.  It is one of the most studied superfood actives due to its rich and bioavailable vitamin C content. Vitamin C is an antioxidant and free radical scavenger that protects the skin from harm and promotes collagen and elastin.

the truth about skincare products — it’s a numbers game

Something that really sets Mukti Organics apart from many other skincare companies is the viable quantity of ingredients we add to our bottles and jars.

We don’t skimp on the good stuff. This is what ensures our skincare products have a cosmeceutical effect.

A lot of skincare companies highlight their use of the latest "IN”gredients on their packaging but look closer and you’ll see they’re only used in tiny quantities, with the bottle often filled with water.

To tell the difference between mere label claims and whether an ingredient is incorporated in a cosmetic formulation in sufficient quantities to benefit skin, check where it appears on the ingredient label. The further down the list, the lower the percentage.

The majority of the active ingredients should appear around the midpoint, as opposed to the end of the list.

Have you tried our new formulations with Australian native extracts yet? Let us know what you think.
