The natural toner you'll want to take everywhere with you

Toners are one of those skincare products that people get confused about. We often receive emails from our customers asking if a toner is really necessary and also what they should look for in a good natural toner.
We'll get more into the ingredients shortly, but first: why should you use one?
Using a toner is an essential step in your skincare routine. It traditionally follows on from cleansing and prior to applying your serum, elixir, oil or moisturiser. Toners are usually formulated for specific skin types so it's important that you choose the right one for your skin in order for it to be effective.
Toners are designed to remove any last traces of grease and grime after you cleanse, to balance and hydrate the skin and also to assist with penetration of hydrating and moisturising products.
It also helps remove any chemical residues from your tap water, such as chlorine and fluoride, which you don't want sitting on your skin all day.
You can use your toner throughout the day to hydrate and to uplift or calm the senses, and give your skin a glowing, dewy look.
Toners can range from very gentle to quite harsh. Our toners are aloe vera based, which is very soothing and calming to most skin types. They also contain active ingredients that assist with particular skin conditions.
Most importantly, as our toners are natural and organic, they don't contain harsh alcohols, which can be very drying and irritating. Many people religiously apply toner without realising what they're gleefully spraying all over their face are ingredients that can cause allergic reactions, irritation, rosacea and acne breakouts.
It's the quickest way to disturb your skin's natural equilibrium and acid mantle.
Natural toner 1: Rose blossom mist toner
Our Rose Blossom Hydrating Mist Toner contains rose hydrosol, which is gentle and effective for skin that is normal/dry. It's also a fabulous addition when flying, as it keeps the acid mantle hydrated and less prone to irritation. The recycled air inside planes is cold and very drying, so spritz your face with toner every hour, on the hour when flying. Choose a natural toner that's not highly scented, so as not to disturb other passengers. Our rose blossom mist toner is perfect — one sniff and you'll want to take it everywhere with you, not just on flights.
Key ingredients: Kakadu Plum, Kangaroo Paw Flower & Snowflower (these are all bioactive native Australian ingredients, which are potent sources of vitamin C and other antioxidants). Also, rose hydrosol, aloe vera leaf juice and essential oils of geranium, petitgrain, lavender and sweet orange. Delish!
natural toner 2: neroli blossom mist toner
Our Neroli Blossom Mist Toner contains active and astringent properties with citrus notes that are suitablefor combination/oily skin types. It assists with balancing sebaceous (oil) production and minimising the appearance of pores. This natural toner is quite active due to the witch hazel and citrus oils, so it's best to patch test if you are prone to any sensitivities or you've got active open pustules. Carry it in your bag and spritz it on your face during the day for a refreshing pick-me-up.
Key ingredients: Again, we've used substantial amounts of bioactive native Australian ingredients for their phenomenal vitamin C content. Including, Kakadu Plum, Finger Lime Caviar, Aniseed Myrtle and Native Pomegranate. Also aloe vera leaf juice, witch hazel and essential oils of neroli, lavender, sweet marjoram and bergamot.
The correct way to use your natural toner
- Close your eyes and relax your face. Hold the bottle about 20 centimetres away from your face and spray an even mist — 2 to 3 spritzes is fine, but you can't really overdo it.
- Before if fully penetrates, apply your serum or oil and then moisturiser.
- You can also apply your natural toner with a damp cotton ball and gently wipe it across your face, paying particular attention to the T-zone. This will assist in removing dead skin cells and minimising the appearance of pores.
