Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate is a natural compound found in the skin which is made up of retinoic acid, a derivative of vitamin A, and is known for its ability to improve skin texture and tone, reduce signs of ageing, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and promote collagen production. In addition, it has been found to be beneficial in treating a variety of skin conditions, including acne, psoriasis, and sun damage.
Use elixir in the evening after cleansing. Press gently onto face, neck and décolletage areas and allow to absorb.

Frequently Asked Questions
The active ingredient in our Vital A Elixir is Hydroxypinacolone retinoate (HPR).
While HPR is a form of retinoid, it is different from traditional retinol and retinoic acid in several ways:
- Stability: traditional retinoids (such as retinol and retinoic acid) are notoriously unstable and can easily break down when exposed to light and air. HPR on the other hand is much more stable and less prone to degradation
- Penetration: traditional retinoids need to be converted into retinoic acid in the skin to be effective, and this conversion process can take some time. HPR is already in a form that can be readily absorbed by the skin, making it faster-acting and more efficient.
- Efficacy: studies have shown HPR is just as effective as traditional retinoids, however because it is less irritating to the skin it is a better for those with sensitive skin types.
Yes Vital A may be used in conjunction with our Vital B or Vital C Elixirs.
Some forms of Vitamin A may not be suitable for sensitive skin, however our active ingredient, HPA, is a much gentler derivative of Vitamin A and typically suitable for sensitive skin types.
As with introducing any new skincare product, we always recommend doing a patch test first. If your skin does not react, you can incorporate the Vital A into your routine. How often you use it varies based on how your skin responds to it, and it's advised to incorporate slowly, starting at once every few days.
If irritation occurs at any point, discontinue use immediately.
