General questions

What's special about your packaging?

Violet glass packaging is the optimal receptacle for cosmetics for both safety and preservation. It incorporates biophotonic technology that protects the concentrated and active formulations by filtering out harmful rays of light. Only the violet light wavelength is able to penetrate the glass. This enhances product viability by activating and energising the molecules stored within to resonate at a similar frequency to the human nervous system.

Sounds like hanky panky? This microbiological test with cherry tomatoes demonstrates that violet glass can maintain and preserve sealed contents over an extended period of time. One cherry tomato was stored in an ordinary clear glass jar while the other was stored in violet glass. They were kept at room temperature where sunlight could penetrate the jars. This is the photographic result after 7 months which shows no discolouration or degradation. Violet glass is also environmentally friendly and is reusable and recyclable.

Does organic beauty mean 100% organic?

Unfortunately this is not the case. The word "organic" is not regulated. If a product states that it uses organic ingredients there is no guarantee that this claim is reputable unless the product has been independently certified by a regulated certification body like ACO COSMOS. All certified ingredients used in our products meet the Australian Organic Standard and are derived either from plants or from allowable organic inputs.

How do you know if a product is really organic?

The use of the word 'organic' in a company name, on a label or in marketing means diddly squat. You need to look for a logo from a genuine "certified organic" reputable certifier. All standards vary so do your homework and check that out as well. We are proud to say that Australian certifiers have one of the most vigilant standards in the world.

  • Check the percentage of the organic content on the back of the label. This will be found in the ingredients panel.
  • Organic products have a shorter shelf life because there are no synthetic preservatives. To guarantee a longer shelf-life we recommend store all products below 25ºC
  • Keep away from heat and direct sunlight.
  • Organic cosmetics can sometimes have an unusual plant based scent. This is because synthetic and chemical fragrances aren't used to mask the natural odour.

Do natural ingredients really work?

Plant based cosmetics work in the same way that nutrients work in food. Our bodies will absorb what they require. Antioxidants, polyphenols, flavonoids and vitamins assist with skin maintenance and cellular regeneration and can act as free radical deterrents creating a sustainable impact upon the entire organism.

The human organism recognises and readily assimilates active ingredients from plant cells in an integrated and proportional way. They are absorbed, rather than treated as synthetic and unrecognisable foreign bodies that end up being stored. The skin cells receive a balanced source of energy from plants so that every component is complementary to the whole improving overall cell vitality.

Product variation

Our products are handcrafted as opposed to mass produced. As our ingredients are organic and natural in origin, there may be seasonal variations which can result in slight changes in colour and consistency between batches.

Why should I make the switch?

The long term effects of using chemicals and their combinations is unquantifiable and impossible to define. More people are experiencing allergies and sensitivities and terminal illnesses as a direct result of environmental pollutants. Our ongoing exposure can be accumulative so the more we can minimise chemicals and toxins, the better it is for our health and well-being. The manufacturing of chemicals that are found in most products creates further pollutants and environmental damage. By choosing organic you can help alleviate your impact and environmental footprint.

Why should I avoid chemicals in skincare products?

Your skin is extremely permeable. It transpires as well as absorbs, especially leave-on products like facial creams, hair dyes and make-up. Exposure to small amounts of various toxins everyday accumulate in the tissues and organs of your body. Recent scientific studies show that a lot of chemicals are toxic even at very low doses. Some chemicals may be the culprits of the infertility epidemic. If you're concerned about your hormones and infertility, you're better off avoiding unnecessary chemicals.  If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, your baby is more susceptible to the chemicals you place on your body.

How long will it take to see a difference in my skin?

Natural and organic skin care have a balancing, detoxifying effect which is a long-term program with ongoing results. Within in two weeks you should notice a visible difference and within six weeks you should notice a change in the texture, feel and overall health of your skin.

Plant based ingredients have active constituents like antioxidants, carotenoids, flavonoids, polyphenols, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids that encourage the skin to regenerate, hydrate, tone, stimulate, heal, nourish, relax, and tighten.

To reach the optimal goal of clear, radiant skin you'll need to balance your internal system through a well balanced, nutritional program based on unprocessed, whole foods.

Do you test on animals?

We guarantee that all of our products and raw ingredients have not been tested on animals. All our products are certified by Choose Cruelty Free and Vegan.

Are your products suitable for vegans?

YES!  All our products are free from animal by products.

I have sensitive skin and sometimes suffer from allergies. Are your products suitable?

  1.  Start with the basics - a cleanser and moisturiser
  2. Make the change gradually
  3. Avoid being overzealous and excited and using too many products all at once

All ingredients are generally safe for all skin types, but some people may still have individual allergies to certain plant botanicals. The same holds true for any cosmetic or food ingredient. If you have sensitive skin or are prone to sensitisation, buy samples and test on the inside of your arm by placing a small amount of product on your arm, covering with elastoplast and leaving overnight. If there is no reaction, you are generally good to go!

We openly disclose our ingredients, so if there's any ingredient you think you may react to, you'll see it clearly listed in Latin (INCI) and common English on the ingredient panel.

I have an allergy to synthetic fragrances and perfumes?

We only use certified organic essential oils that have been chosen for their medicinal properties and therapeutic effect on the skin.

Are essential oils contraindicated?

Some citrus oils are photosensitising when used in direct sunlight. Certain oils are best avoided during pregnancy, especially during the 1st trimester. We don't consider our blends to be contraindicated as they are used synergistically and in insufficient quantities. If uncertain, please check with your health practitioner first and read our disclaimer.

Are products suitable for babies?

Absolutely! All of our body care range is suitable for babies and children.

What preservatives do you use?

We use several plant based preservative systems dependent on the product. This includes small concentrations of natural plant based alcohol and extracts, native Australian extracts, vitamin E and natural antioxidants. Preservation is necessary and is there to protect the end user from harmful yeasts, moulds and bacteria.

What's the expiry date?

All products have a guaranteed shelf-life of 6-12 months unopened. Products that are in jars should be used within 3 months of opening. Always use a spatula to dispense product and replace the cap after use and keep water tight. Products should be stored below 30 degrees Celsius.

Where are the products manufactured?

All our products are manufactured in our custom built GMP factory in Maleny, a small rural town in the pristine hills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland in Queensland, Australia.

Product questions

Why is it important to use a cleanser?

Cleansing is the first step to achieve great skin. If your skin is not sufficiently clean, dead skin cells and bacteria can cause the skin to become dull, flaky and prone to clogged pores and congestion. Regular cleansing with a pH balanced formula prepares the skin for the application and penetration of further products.

What is the difference between a serum and a moisturiser?

Serums are lightweight yet packed with specialised ingredients. Their molecular structure is smaller and designed to penetrate the deeper dermal layers of the skin to offer optimum results. They have a cosmeceutical effect that targets more than one concern. Moisturisers offer hydration and protection and assist to seal in the nutrients. They should contain a balanced concentration of emollients, including plant based oils that contain essential fatty acids to rejuvenate and repair the skin.

When should I moisturise?

Moisturisers should be used after cleansing and toning to re-hydrate and deeply nourish the skin. They are formulated to create a protective barrier against oxidants and moisture loss. Apply after cleansing and toning. Note areas of dryness/oiliness on particular areas of the face. If the skin is producing sufficient oil in certain areas, then leave it be.

What is unique about the Age Defiance Collection?

Many anti-ageing products contain toxic ingredients that may act as endocrine disruptors and can interfere with hormonal imbalance, which is counter-productive to our overall health and longevity.

Every ingredient has been specifically chosen for its anti-aging properties to assist with rejuvenating and maintaining the skin. They work together to inhibit free radical formation, protect collagen, reduce inflammation, detoxify the skin and slow down the visible signs of aging.

A significantly high ratio of rejuvenating peptides are infused into a certified organic base with a synergistic combination of native Australian extracts and soothing aloe vera and contain naturally occurring phytonutrients, vitamins and antioxidants that control moisture loss while repairing and restoring damaged skin making them one of the most active anti-ageing products on the market.

What are peptides?

Peptides are short-chain proteins that naturally occur in the skin and act mainly as messengers (signalling peptides) or hormones. They've have been shown to play a key role in natural skin healing processes. Products containing peptides are claimed to have smoothing and nourishing effects on the skin. The amino acid sequence and chain structure determine the specific biological activity and function.

All products are Australian made by us and are certified vegan and cruelty free.
