Meet the Queen of Antioxidants

OourProducts

If you are a current Mukti skincare lover, and/or one of our regular blog readers, you might already know that we are complete devotees of botanical antioxidants.

This is why we are incredibly excited to introduce you all to our latest antioxidant hero, making its debut in our latest-to-launch product: the Queen of The Night Crème.

The Queen Garnet Plum is beloved by nutrition and skin experts alike for its long list of benefits. Royal purple in colour, this powerhouse fruit is wonderfully versatile and is thus used in a range of health products, from skincare to digestive aid. So, what makes this humble fruit so sought-after?

Powerful Antioxidants

We know that antioxidants are crucial in any skincare regimen, as they are one of our primary defence mechanisms against ageing. The more free radicals our body encounters, the more damage our cells experience; thereby the faster the signs of ageing start to show, i.e. lines, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity. Antioxidants neutralise free radicals and prevent damage from occurring as quickly. Since we know that prevention is much easier than cure, antioxidants should always be high on your skincare priorities list – it is on ours!

There are many forms of antioxidants, and one of the most widely researched and highly respected is anthocyanin. Considered a flavonoid and part of the phenol group, anthocyanins can be found among lots of purple and darkly-coloured fruits and vegetables. This includes the Queen Garnet plum. Anthocyanins are also known to have antimicrobial properties, presenting another benefit in skincare and the prevention of breakouts. (1)

Better Potency

Not only does the Queen Garnet plum contain a desirable class of phenolic antioxidant compound, but it contains higher volumes of it than some other varieties. The Queen Garnet plum has a longer ripening period than other plums, and by hanging for longer on the vine, has a longer time in which to cultivate its potent antioxidant content. (2)

Perfect Pairings

Antioxidants are certainly one of the primary keys when it comes to age prevention and overall skin health, but there are several others which are just as crucial. Particularly for problematic skins, those exposed to high levels of congestion or pollution, or those experiencing any kind of sensitivity or inflammatory-based conditions, ingredients designed to fortify the skin’s barrier and reduce inflammation are imperative. Indeed, a disrupted barrier, problematic skin which proliferates bacteria, and an excess of pro-inflammatory cytokines (present in all cases of inflammation) all detract from our skin’s health and function, and hasten skin damage.

While you may be addressing certain specific skin needs through your serums, like pigmentation, pores and congestion, lines, or dehydration, a quality moisturiser to strengthen, moisturise and protect the skin at baseline is essential. And that’s where Queen of The Night Crème comes in.

This sumptuous and deeply moisturising night crème heroes the antioxidant powerhouse that is the Queen Garnet Plum. We’ve combined this with a bio-available Ceramide Complex, proven to repair and strengthen barrier function. This blend combines cholesterol and free fatty acids, which are the main lipids found in the stratum corneum of the skin, preventing excessive water loss and providing protection from external aggressors.

Plant-based Stem Cells encourage cellular repair, and deeply hydrate the skin during its most important reparative phase: during sleep. Not only will you notice a beautiful lifting, plumping, and firming effect upon waking, but usage long-term helps the skin’s strength and defence, supports collagen production, enhances hydration (also reducing the appearance of fine lines) and prevents water loss. And what’s more – it’s safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding: making this indulgent formulation suitable for just about every skin.
