The One Crucial Step That Will Transform your Skin

The sensation that a well formulated face mist leaves you with is undeniably restorative and pleasurable. Whether you’re executing your daily routine, on route in your car, mid-flight over the Atlantic, or hitting a 3pm slump at your desk, a quick uplifting spritz of mist brings you instantly and refreshingly into the present moment enlivening and awakening your skin and spirit.

Although they may seem like a superfluous add on, face mists are one of the most important steps that may be missing from your beauty regime. After cleansing, they help to tone and rebalance the pH of the skin by adding moisture and assisting effective penetration of the ingredients that follow.

Simply misting water on the face may seem like a cheaper alternative but can cause osmosis that can dehydrate your skin and doesn’t impart any benefits unless you put something on over it. Pores don’t open and close, and water on the top of your skin simply evaporates. Since water attracts water, when you spray the skin, it draws water from skin’s deepest layers and evaporates into the dry air.

The concept of a face mist involves mixing skin-friendly and gentle active ingredients with a hydrosol base that contains a subtle scent profile to increase the sensory pleasure. A well-rounded mist should contain humectants and other plant extracts that are your secret weapon against Transepidermal water loss (TEWL) by binding to the water that is found in your skin cells and slowing down the evaporation process.

Water based products easily and readily penetrate and help to drive and deliver active ingredients into the skin. They really are the missing step that will supercharge your skincare routine by playing a supporting and effective role. The science being that the skin is more permeable when its damp so ideally everyone should use a mist after cleansing followed by a serum and then a moisturiser to lock in hydration. While face mists can deliver actives into the skin, you need to lock that mist in since you don’t want the mist and the ingredients used in it to evaporate.

The ingredients in our Hydrating Rose Mist are all designed to calm, soothe, and nourish skin that fits the dry to mature skin profile although even people prone to breakouts can use it. It works by reducing inflammation by minimising environmental stressors. Hand-picked Bulgarian rose petals are combined with Aloe Vera and indigenous plant extracts of Kakadu Plum, Kangaroo Flower and Snowflower. Essential vitamins and amino acids hydrate the skin and offer protection imparting calmness and a dewy complexion.

Our Balancing Orange Blossom Mist is an uplifting citrus infusion blended with astringent Witch hazel and native Australian botanicals including Kakadu Plum, Finger Lime Caviar, Aniseed Myrtle and Native Pomegranate to minimise and refine pores by balancing combination skin leaving your skin feeling refreshed and revitalised. The citrus component is a natural pick me up that lifts your mood with a simple spritz.

Are there any other uses for face mists?

While the best way to use a face mist is under your serum and moisturiser, there are a couple of ingenious uses for face mists that you might not have thought of.

Mists are particularly useful over the warmer months or after a workout they can be used on your hair especially around the hairline for a soft sheen and reset. You can also use your face mist to fix makeup fails. If you went a little overboard and heavy handed, rather than wiping it all off and starting again, simply spray your mist over the top and do a little inventory control on those problem areas. Tapping with your finger to blend and work in the excess layers for a more natural look and glowing complexion.

Aside from the occasional makeup refresh or pick-me-up, you can safely indulge in going overboard on misting moments throughout the day. There’s nothing even vaguely like misting. Everybody should have one for a delightful instant glow and imparting suppleness. Winter, spring summer or fall, oily or dry, it makes any skin-care routine more effective and more pleasurably indulgent. Welcome to your new secret weapon.
