Celebrating Australian Organic Awareness Month

Celebrating Australian Organic Awareness Month

At Mukti Organics, prioritising our health and well-being has become a way of life for us. But we know that choosing the best practices for a healthier lifestyle isn’t always easy. In honour of Australian Organic Awareness Month, we wanted to take this opportunity to breakdown what it means to be certified organic, and why it's important.

Organic vs. Certified Organic: Know the Difference

Terms like 'non-toxic' and 'organic' lack consistent regulation, which can lead to misuse by brands (and confusion for you, the customer)!

Since 2002, the organic standard for cosmetics and skincare has evolved amidst growing demand for green chemistry. Organic certification validates sustainable practices and ensures the purity of ingredients and product formulations.

The good news is that Mukti Organics has been certified since 2006. Choosing products certified by Australian Certified Organic (ACO) and COSMOS ensures products are free from synthetic chemicals and GMOs. It also means that it contains 95% or more certified organic ingredients derived from organic agriculture and manufactured in an approved certified organic facility. The percentage of organic ingredients is required to be listed on the label.

How can you tell if a brand’s products are certified? The label will prominently display the certifier's logo on the packaging. The use of the logo guarantees that the product is third-party certified.

Unraveling the Beauty Industry

The beauty industry is full of phrases, practices, and certifications that can be downright confusing, often meaning that you don’t really know what is in the product you’re using, or how it was made. Quick ingredient-check apps may seem handy, but they often miss the mark by overlooking crucial factors like quality and overall formulation of products, leading to misinformed decisions and unnecessary fears.

Our founder, Mukti, recognised the struggles consumers are facing in the increasingly convoluted world of beauty, which is one of the reasons why she wrote Truth in Beauty.

Truth in Beauty: Your Go-To Resource
